Walter de Groot, the founder, is a second generation designer/craftsman and formally trained as a sculptor. Walter has been involved in the art and restoration business for over 50 years and has produced original works for individuals and corporations as well as blind label production pieces for major retailers and catalog houses. Walter is involved in many other aspects of the art and design world and functions as a craftsman, consultant, and conservator throughout North America for municipal and private estate owners for the restoration of a single artifact to an entire estate.
About 40 years ago Walter was a partner in a successful retail design studio operation that was focused on high mid-level art and decorative accessories that included framed art prints, paintings, sculpture, hand-blown glass, pottery, and many other artsy items with several locations across the east coast.
Now Walter has decided to try it again in Greenport, an artsy little seafaring town on the east end of the north fork of Long Island with the only custom framing and photo printing shop of its kind on Long Island.

"Walter did a stunning job framing our large print, including a superb frame and hanging structure. He was also kind enough to drop off at our home as it wouldn't fit in our car. Highly recommended!"
David Morris
"Having worked with walter legroot over the past several years, he has been solicitous, helpful, so easy to work with....He does everything.....Frames art work and enlarges photographs.....He has a large assortment of paintings in his gallery; he converts photographs onto a canvas-like medium; he converts color slides onto a memory stick for easier storage and viewing.....He is a man of multiple talents. I highly recommend trying him out..!!"
Marianne Selwyn
"Meticulous framing, an unbelievable selection of mats and frames, plus a wondrous selection of prints: fine art, photos, and posters. I had brought in 2 fine art prints to have framed and Walter understood what I wanted immediately. I left with three fine prints already framed. Travel, nautical, nautical charts, automotive, and landscape are all represented in Walter’s gallery and the selection is always changing. Prices extremely competitive. Highly recommended, worth every star."

"We’ve had Walter frame several paintings for us over the years, and the fit and finish of his work has always been top notch. His pricing isn’t inexpensive, but considering how much more costly framing is on the South Fork, and what a fantastic job he does, Walter’s services are a bargain."
